what happened in arizona....

so this last trip to arizona seemed to have a lot happen.
  • our first day their we went to thatcher to see wes' & family
  • wes & dad put up a tire swing
  • i chipped a tooth on some chewy candy
  • we went swimming twice
  • shopping
  • saw two scorpions!
  • go together with good friends
  • all got a little sick
  • i had to go to the emergency room for strep throat at 9 pm, we finally left at midnight
  • lost william at the salvation army
now losing william is probably one of the scariest things that has ever happened to me! my mom and i were looking around just letting the boys walk around too. i was looking at the clothes and mom says she going to look on the other side of the store with the boys. jonathon is with her so she asks if i have william. nope....we look around, not worried yet. we look around the whole store (it isn't that big), now getting a little worried. mom goes outside to look, comes back inside shakes her head....getting worried now! mom goes to the manager says we have a lost boy; manager hollers "we have a lost boy (says what he looks like-grateful that i always dress the boys alike so i showed them jonathan saying he looks the same) i have locked the door, so no one can leave or come in till the police get here." now people ask me his name and everyone is yelling for william, now i'm crying like crazy! the manager hands me the phone to talk 911. then someone hollers that they found him!!! he was hiding in the women's black pants section. the lady said she heard a little cough. we looked everywhere! i guess we just missed the black pants section!
a few things i have thought of sense this happened. at first i told my i didn't think someone could have taken him from inside the store because william wouldn't have gone with them. and that i would have heard him. but after thinking about it i think he might have gone with someone at first. if an adult came up to him and just said come with him and maybe even took his hand he probably would have gone. i think the boys are just young enough to not understand about strangers. i'll still teach them about not going with anyone else, but that's a hard thing too. then we we lost him at the salvation army i thought all these shady people shop there, so it scared me more. but when we were looking for him i was surprised at who was actually trying to help find him and who was just standing around. one lady i probably would never talk to in my life with her son and another older guy and lady looked the most. she told her son (he was maybe 5) to show her everywhere he would hide. they looked in the refrigerators, bookshelves, etc. then when we found him mom was still looking outside she ran out to get mom. it just reminds me to not judge people. the whole time i was thinking he has to be here, but while i was talking to the police holding owen and jonathon all i could to was stand there, i felt so helpless. my brain seemed frozen. the entire incident was maybe 10 minutes, but the longest 10 minutes of my life! i just thank Heavenly Father everything worked out okay. i was even grateful to get strep throat down there where i had my parents help. it seems when we look back on things that happen we are able to see all the little ways Heavenly Father is actually there helping us. it's hard to remeber that in the moment, but He is always there looking out for us and things seem to always happen for a reason.

Oh my gosh--that would be so scary! I'm glad your mom was there to help out, and that other woman too. And I'm SO GLAD you found him. Geez... it makes me want to go buy those child leashes for my kids!

That is so terrifying! We lost Michael at the Mall in Mesa and I still remember exactly how I felt. There is nothing like the fear you feel when that happens. I'm so glad it turned out okay and you had a nice trip.

scary, Woody knows that one exactly cause when tav was about the same age he called me on the phone looking at white shirts, asked me what size the boys needed, then asked me where tav was. How would I know that from home, but then he had to hang up and start looking(very panicked) and then eventually found him in the shirt rack. Kids can be so sneaky with out even trying to be! Glad you found him and all was well.

Mother guilt (and panic) is the worst feeling in the world! Sometimes you just feel so helpless when something like that happens...and you have to rely on other people to help you. Thank heavens for the people who helped you there! They were right where they needed to be. I'm glad everything turned out alright! ...Summer
